Letters, diary, post cards, photographs, and biographical material, relating primarily to Copeland's experiences in 1917-1918 with the Russian Railway Service Corps, a semimilitary unit under the direction of the U.S. Army chief of engineers, organized to restore order along the Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia. Contains information on Copeland's trip from St. Paul to Vladivostok and the corps' detainment in Japan (December 1917-August 1918) because of political disturbances in Russia.
